Looks Pretty Familiar, Looks Pretty Odd

OK, so this is Carmi at Beconscot, remember that.
I went there when I was little.
I have to say, I didn;t realise at the time that all the monies raised go to fund Christian evangelism, hmm.
But so cute.
And Carmi had a great time,

And so, I'm just about prepared to admit, did I.

More Spanish Grooving Around

The photo on the big boat is actually us out looking at whales. And dolphins.
We saw loads, really.
I mean the photos of the whales don't have me in and the photos of me don't have whales in, but there really are lots of 'em out there. Honest.

OK, back to work.
London, here we come.

Ola Epsana

Ah, more holidays,
What a lucky couple of boys.
This is us at Michael's place in Spain.
Lot of hanging out on the beach knocking over fabulous Michael-built sand castles.
Lot of cruising around on boats in the swimming pool (that is the little inflatable dinghy boat, the rather large yacht in the background of one of these photos is, sadly, not part of the family.

Parents and Kids

Couple of quick snaps of mum and Harry and dad and Carmi.

Nine Go Mad in Dorset

This was great fun.
Bob's umpte-ith birthday and Malaka took the whole family away for to Dorset.
Near Lyme Regis.
Even Daniel was there, fresh from Israel
We did a lot of eating, a lot of walking around in the wind, sadly didn't see any dinosaurs, but watched a bunch of the Olympics.
And loved being part of the family.

Lots of boys

Lots of boys.

OK, so the picture makes it look like we always get on.
Well we sometimes get on.

Actually it's been a while since Carmi has whacked Harry. Not that he ever really meant it, you know, it's just that he's little and Carmi thinks he can get away with it.
But by and large, and by now, they get on just fine, or as Carmi would say, 'he's so cute.'
Can't imagine where he got that one from.

Yoda Gone Swimming

This is Carmi at Swiss Cottage swimming pools.

He’s been in, he’s plashed around, he’s done leg kicks and doggy splashes and screamed at the prospect of ‘head-unders,’ still any opportunity to play with a set of keys and he seems happy enough.

Yoda …. Feel the force.

What's in a name?

Harry Lior,

Named after my (Jeremy's) beloved grandfather, Monte.
And Josephine's grandfather, Henry.

I know the connection isn;t obvious.
Monte is clearly a cognate of 'mount' and the Hebrew name for a mount is 'Har.' Harry would actually translate as 'my mountain,' which would be a little odd, so in Hebrew it is Harel.

Famous Harels in history include ... Harel Levy the tennis player (surely you have heard of him) and a few Israeli generals who have the name as a family name.
Well it's not a long list.

My grandfather was a butcher and supplier of kosher meat by day. His real love was his family and Jewish stuff. A trained opera singer he singularly failed to pass on his great voice to his grandson, but he did impart a love of Seder night, which, on balance is probably more important.

I miss my grandfather, in particular I would have loved for him to have known that I chose to become a Rabbi. He would have been most proud.

Lior, from the Hebrew meaning, 'Light unto me,' is just a name we like.

Bruvers

So here are da boys.
Looking very cute.
Carmi is doing great.
Loves the cuddles.
The only problem came when, on leaning in to give Harry a big kiss, Carmi placed his hand ontop of Harry to stop himself falling forward - cue screech.
But it's sweet.

A life in Black & White

Just think, never had a photo taken in colour ...

Here are some shots of Harry on his first day.
I ahve to admit, in one he looks a little like a squashed alien, but the rest aren't so bad.
And as for his super-mum, unbelievable.

A new world

So this is Harry at minus 6 months.
He's got a lot of catching up to do, what with Carmi doing a very well-balanced 'look I can stand on one leg and feed myself and run and talk and ...

So he'll get a bunch of posts for now but for all you dedicated readers of carmigordon.blogspot.com welcome.
Piccies, news, meanderings and more, soon to follow.
